2015년 7월, 그리고 2016년 9월.
July 2015, then September 2016.
우리는 뉴욕에 두 번 갔다. 배에서 자유의 여신상을 보고, 미술관과 공원을 다녔다. 걷다가 앉아 쉬기도 했다.
We visited New York twice. We saw the Statue of Liberty from the water and visited museums and parks. We walked, and now and then we sat down to rest.

The day after the boat,
a museum and an observation deck.
자유의 여신상을 배에서 본 다음 날에는 MoMA와 록펠러 센터에 갔다. 오후에는 조각 정원의 나무 그늘에 앉았다가, 전망대에서 도시를 내려다보았다.
The day after seeing the Statue of Liberty from a boat, we went to MoMA and Rockefeller Center. Around two we sat in the shade of the sculpture garden; by half past four we were looking down on the city from the observation deck.
타임스스퀘어에는 자정을 넘겨 갔다. 7월 14일 오후에는 센트럴 파크의 베데스다 테라스에 갔다. 바닥은 젖어 있었고 우산을 든 사람들이 보였다. 저녁에는 워싱턴 스퀘어 파크에, 밤에는 브루클린교 위에 있었다.
We reached Times Square after midnight. On the afternoon of 14 July, we went to Bethesda Terrace in Central Park. The paving was wet, and people carried umbrellas. In the evening we were in Washington Square Park, and at night on the Brooklyn Bridge.

의자가 보이면 앉았다.
We walked, and when there was a chair,
we sat.
7월 15일 오전에는 하이라인의 옛 철길 위에 놓인 의자에 앉았다. 그날 밤에는 링컨 센터의 분수 앞에 있었다.
On the morning of 15 July, we sat in chairs on the High Line’s old rail line. That night we were by the fountain at Lincoln Center.
2016년 9월,
다시 같은 도시September 2016,
the same city again
이번에는
크루즈 갑판에서.
This time,
from a cruise deck.
2015년에는 페리에서, 2016년에는 크루즈 갑판에서 자유의 여신상을 보았다. 버뮤다를 다녀온 배가 돌아온 뒤에는 뉴욕에서 다시 며칠을 걸었다.
In 2015 we saw the Statue of Liberty from a ferry; in 2016, from a cruise deck. After the ship returned from Bermuda, we spent a few more days walking in New York.
9월 12일 아침에는 NO STANDING 표지판 아래를 지나갔고, 정오 무렵에는 미드타운 이스트의 횡단보도를 건넜다. 오후에는 MoMA에서 클림트 작품 앞에 오래 머물렀다. 클림트는 둘 다 좋아하는 작가인데, 그 그림은 아내가 특히 좋아하던 작품이었다.
On the morning of 12 September, we passed beneath a NO STANDING sign. Around noon we crossed a street in Midtown East. In the afternoon we lingered before a Klimt at MoMA. We both like his work, and this painting was a particular favourite of my wife’s.

링컨 센터에는 두 해 모두 갔다. 2015년 7월 15일에는 밤에 분수 앞에 있었고, 2016년 9월 15일에는 저녁에 광장에 있었다.
We went to Lincoln Center on both visits. On 15 July 2015 we were by the fountain at night; on 15 September 2016 we were in the plaza in the evening.
