Day three of our Namhae trip
Monday 30 April 2012, the last day of our trip to Namhae. We spent a grey morning by the tall windows of a dining room in Ilun, Geoje, and on the drive home we stopped at O-World in Daejeon. The afternoon went on paths of azaleas, rows of tulips and a flight of steps with water running down it.
Day three in Namhae
Day one · From the tea rows to the bridge lights
Day two · Past the flower beds to a café on the sea
Breakfast facing a grey sea
Around eight, the room where we had breakfast in Ilun, Geoje, had one wall made entirely of glass. Pines covered the slope outside, and beyond them a misty sea and low hills overlapped. The sky hung low and grey. One of us sat with hands folded under the chin; the other kept turning to look out of the window.

A path between azaleas and blossom
At about three in the afternoon, on the way home from Namhae, we went into O-World in Sajeong-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. The slopes on either side of the path were covered in red and deep-pink azaleas, with red tulips lined up beneath them along a low white fence, and trees hung with clusters of pink blossom stood along the way. We photographed each other walking ahead, and leaning back against the fence of a flower bed.

Narrow paths through the tulips
O-World’s Flower Land is a garden area opened in 2009, described as holding a tulip festival in spring. After half past three we walked into its tulip beds. Yellow, red and violet were planted in rows, and some red-orange tulips had their petals edged in yellow. A brick path just wide enough for one person ran between the flowers, and we stood on it to take photographs.

Where water comes down the steps
Around four we sat side by side on the edge of a wide, shallow terrace of water, looking down over a plaza of yellow and pink umbrellas and the green woods beyond. Close by was a cascade, water running down a broad flight of steps with a mermaid and turtles set in the middle. We sat down on the plaza in front of the fountain for one more picture.

At 4:16 we put our faces together for a selfie with yellow flowers behind us. That was how the third afternoon of our Namhae trip went by, on a flower path in Daejeon.
