A red road,
under yellow trees
On the afternoon of Sunday, 28 October 2012, we went to the Hoam Museum of Art in Yongin. The trees along the road in had turned red; those by the lake and in the forecourt had turned yellow.
Around three we walked the road and the lakeside, and at about half past three we stood in the museum forecourt. The two trees above are the day’s two colours.
The road in
Cars were parked in a line along the road to the museum, and beside them stood a tree mixed with red and yellow leaves. We took turns standing under it for photographs, and at the end stood there side by side.
A few minutes later, by the same road, we came to a maple that had gone entirely deep red.

The lake, then a yellow tree

Through the trees we could see the lake in front of the museum. White reeds and reddening shrubs ran along the water’s edge.
Close to the lake, one large tree had turned completely yellow. People sat or stood on the rocks beneath it to take photographs. Under it we took a selfie with our faces close together, and a few more of sitting on a rock or standing in front of the tree.

Under a tree in the forecourt
The forecourt of the museum building has trees set in stone planters and a rounded clipped shrub. Two autumns earlier we had stood side by side for a photograph under a yellow tree in this same forecourt.
This time, too, the two of us stood under a tree. In the afternoon light our shadows stretched long across the paving.
To one side of the forecourt a stone pagoda stood among pine trees. On the path in front of it, one of us stood with his hands in his jacket pockets.

Red vines on a tiled wall

Along a wall of dark brick capped with roof tiles, vine leaves had climbed up in red. Under the round patterns at the tile ends, red and yellow leaves hung down.
One of us stood in front of the wall holding a bear-shaped phone case up to her mouth.

The reddest tree
This is the maple in the top-left photograph. Its leaves had turned red and orange so densely that even the dry grass beneath it seemed tinged with red.
We took turns standing beneath it, and then stood there side by side again.

Back by the lake
As half past four approached we were under the trees by the lake again. The leaves at the water’s edge were orange, and small ripples crossed the lake.
We walked in along a red road, and stayed beneath yellow trees.
