8월의 마지막 날 전주에서 결혼식을 올렸다. 신혼여행에서 돌아오니 곧 추석이었고, 우리는 둘이 된 첫 명절을 장수의 사과밭 길에서 보냈다.On the last day of August we were married in Jeonju. Back from the honeymoon, Chuseok was already near, and we spent our first holiday as two on an orchard road in Jangsu.
결혼식 4주 전, 비Four weeks to go, and rain
8월 첫 토요일, 동탄의 점심 자리 창밖으로 비가 세차게 쏟아졌다. 결혼식까지 28일이 남아 있었다.
On the first Saturday of August, rain came down hard outside our lunch table in Dongtan. The wedding was twenty-eight days away.
식 전의 시간Before the ceremony
결혼식은 전주에서 올렸다. 오전에 효자동에서 단장을 마치고, 덕진구 팔복동의 아름다운컨벤션으로 갔다. 8월의 마지막 날이었다.
We were married in Jeonju. In the morning we got ready in Hyoja-dong, then went on to the Areumdaun Convention in Palbok-dong, Deokjin-gu. It was the last day of August.
입장, 그리고 서약The walk in, and the vows
둘이 함께 입장했고, 무대 앞에서는 혼인 서약을 나눠 읽었다. 만난 지 1,102일째였다.
We walked in together, and at the front we took turns reading the vows. It was our 1,102nd day since we first met.
그날 밤 우리는 인천에서 비행기를 탔다. 그다음 이야기는 스페인 신혼여행 첫 편에 있다.

돌아와 맞은 첫 주말The first weekend back
신혼여행에서 돌아와 처음 맞은 토요일 오후, 영통의 아웃백. 결혼한 지 15일째였다.
The first Saturday afternoon after the honeymoon, at the Outback in Yeongtong. We had been married fifteen days.
둘이 된 첫 추석Our first Chuseok as two
2013년 추석은 9월 19일 목요일이었다. 연휴 첫날 아침 장수 산서면 길가에는 사과 모양 정류장이 서 있고, 추석 낮의 사과밭 길 위로는 하늘이 맑았다. 장수는 해발 400~700미터 고원 분지에 자리한 사과 고장이다.
Chuseok fell on Thursday 19 September in 2013. On the first morning of the holiday there was an apple-shaped bus shelter by the road in Sanseo-myeon, Jangsu, and on Chuseok itself the sky was clear over the orchard road. Jangsu is apple country, a plateau basin 400 to 700 metres up.
사과와 한우를 내세운 장수 한우랑사과랑축제는 해마다 9월 무렵 장수읍 의암공원 일대에서 열린다. 그해에는 추석 열흘 전인 9월 6~8일이었다.
Jangsu’s beef-and-apple festival, Hanurang Sagwarang, is held around September each year near Uiam Park in Jangsu town. That year it ran 6–8 September, ten days before Chuseok.
다시, 보통의 밤Ordinary nights again
9월의 마지막 주. 목요일 밤에는 서울 강남의 카페, 토요일 밤에는 수원 망포동의 카페였다. 창밖 길이 비에 젖어 있었다.
The last week of September: a café in Gangnam, Seoul, on Thursday night, and one in Mangpo-dong, Suwon, on Saturday night. Outside, the road was wet with rain.
결혼한 지 29일째.
Twenty-nine days married.
