네 번째 8월 26일Flower-market morning, a fourth 26 August
2014년 늦여름의 한 달. 토요일 아침의 양재 꽃시장, 꽃으로 가득한 평택의 카페, 만난 지 4년이 되던 밤, 결혼 1주년 전날의 가족 모임, 그리고 추석.A month at the end of summer 2014: a Saturday morning at the Yangjae flower market, a café full of flowers in Pyeongtaek, the night we reached four years since we met, a family get-together the day before our first wedding anniversary, and Chuseok.
양재 꽃시장The Yangjae flower market
서울 서초구 양재동의 aT 화훼공판장, 흔히 양재 꽃시장이라 부르는 곳. 생화 도매매장은 자정 무렵 문을 열어 정오 무렵이면 대부분 정리한다. 토요일 아침 여덟 시, 통로는 아직 물기로 젖어 있었다.
The aT Flower Market in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, better known as the Yangjae flower market. The cut-flower wholesale halls open around midnight and mostly pack up by noon. At eight on a Saturday morning the aisles were still wet.
보라색 아스타는 원래 가을꽃이다. 8월 초의 꽃시장은 계절보다 한발 앞서 있었다.
Asters are autumn flowers. In early August, the market was a step ahead of the season.
형광등 아래, 물 젖은 바닥과 꽃 냄새.Under the strip lights: wet floors and the smell of flowers.
평택, MOONCAFEMOONCAFE, Pyeongtaek
오후는 평택 합정동의 MOONCAFE에서. 이름의 두 O 자리에 커피콩과 달이 들어간 카페로, 테이블 사이사이가 화분과 꽃이었다.
The afternoon was at MOONCAFE in Hapjeong-dong, Pyeongtaek: a café whose two Os are a coffee bean and a moon, with pots and flowers between the tables.
붉은 화분, 장미, 아이스티 두 잔. 긴 오후였다.
Red planters, roses, two iced teas. It was a long afternoon.
오후 네 시 무렵의 평택 용이동. 새로 올린 건물과 아직 비어 있는 땅이 반씩 섞인 동네였다.

만난 지 4년Four years
우리는 2010년 8월 26일에 처음 만났다. 네 번째 8월 26일을 앞둔 밤, 치즈케이크 한 조각과 커피 한 잔. 손가락 넷이면 충분했다.
We first met on 26 August 2010. On the night before the fourth 26 August: a slice of cheesecake and a coffee. Four fingers said it.
8월의 마지막 주에는 우리 기념일이 몰려 있다.
For us, the last week of August is crowded with anniversaries.
1주년 하루 전The day before one year
결혼 1주년을 하루 앞둔 토요일 오후, 수원 영통의 아웃백에서 가족과 모였다. 케이크와 고깔모자, 오렌지 주스.

그날 밤 열 시 반, 광교호수공원 근처.
Half past ten that night, near Gwanggyo Lake Park.
추석, 장수Chuseok in Jangsu
그해 추석은 9월 8일. 아침은 전북 장수에서. 소나무 사이로 하늘이 높았다.
Chuseok fell on 8 September that year. The morning was in Jangsu, North Jeolla, with a high sky between the pines.
꽃시장의 가을꽃에서 추석까지, 한 달. 계절이 꽃을 따라잡았다.
From autumn flowers at the market to Chuseok: one month, and the season caught up with the flowers.
